THE 10 FASTEST PLAYERS IN THE 2025 CLASS

PBR Jan 14, 2023

4. OF Jake Gaskill, 5’10 155, North Gwinnett – Current Run : Plus. Future Run : ++.

60 Time – 6.68 (PBR Swift).  Run Speed – 21.2 mph. Home to 1st (Best Time) – 4.09

10 yard split – 1.61

Gaskill is one of the most exciting players in the class to watch, with blazing speed and an incredibly efficient swing path that allows him to put his speed to use often. If you blink you might miss him, and that’s how most catchers in the nation feel when they look up and he’s already on 2nd. He has the best recorded 10 yard split in the state, showing just how unbelievably quick his first step and initial burst are. Not only does he have blinding speed, he’s very instinctive and that makes it even harder to get him on the basepaths. Unsurprisingly, he has exceptional range in all 3 outfield positions and is known to make acrobatic catches. When he fills into his frame with more lean strength, he has a legit chance to be first on this list by the time he leaves HS.

May 29 PG SE Memorial Day Classic Scout Notes

Jake Gaskill (2025, Suwanee, Ga.) had a day in the game of the week versus a very talented 15u East Cobb Astros. He started the game off with a triple in the LCF gap on the second pitch, showing off the wheels to make it to third. A 6.59 runner, Gaskill has a knack for putting the bat on the ball which further emphasizes his athleticism. The North Gwinnett High School attendee bodes a smaller frame but makes up for size with quick twitch qualities and coordination. Gaskill proved that he can handle a plethora of types of pitches in varying locations around the plate, courtesy of his fast hands and high awareness in the box. He brought in three with a bases clearing 2B later in the game as well for good measure. The rising junior outfielder plays with high effort and would be a threat in many lineups.

2022 NATIONAL UNDERCLASS SHOWCASE-MAIN EVENT  Dec 28-30, 2022

Jake Gaskill is a 2025 OF/RHP with a 5-11 155 lb. frame from Suwanee, GA who attends North Gwinnett. Gaskill immediately impressed with a 6.62 sixty yard dash time, showing off the speed tool that effortlessly translated into all aspects of his game. As a primary OF, he got behind the ball well with calculated mechanics to generate throws up to 79 mph. No surprise that range is a big factor in Gaskill’s game. The righty also topped out at 79 mph on the mound, flashing a compact 3/4 slot with early signs of arm speed. He has room to further work down the mound and add to the velo numbers. Offensively, Gaskill started from an even base with evident hand speed through the zone to produce carry to the middle pull side of the field. He created solid line drive impact when on time, posting an exit velo of 81 mph. Good student. Named to Top Prospect List.

PBR 1/08/23

Positional Profile: OF/RHP One of the more twitchy OF’s in his class.
Body: 5-11, 155-pounds. Medium frame with lean strength. Twitchy athlete.
Hits: RHH. Good rhythm between hips & hands, preset stack of backside with knees inside feet. Very balanced with good body control, active rhythm in hands. Very good separation timing. Short, direct path with plenty of strength through contact.
Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 78.1 MPH. 311′ max distance. All fields lasers.
Arm: RH. OF-81 mph. Full circle, fluid, 3/4 slot.
Defense: Rangy defender with good instincts and sure hands.
Run: 6.73 runner in the 60. Short, explosive strides that chew up ground.

Uncommitted. 5 foot 9, 155 pounds. This lightning bolt of a human was a major standout at both the LP Open and Underclass Games. He is one of the best hitters in the class pound for pound, with arguably the best body control in the class. Gaskill repeats his swing at such a high level that each cut looks like a carbon copy of the next. Repeating excellent swing mechanics is the precursor to hitting the ball hard consistently, which is exactly what he does. Jake averaged 90 EV in BP, sending lasers to all fields with beautiful backspin. Mechanically – the knees angle inside feet keeping him close to center of balance, touch & go off backside w/ hips, perfect rhythm+sequence in forward move. His separation timing & load are very efficient and his hands work into a small c right near the hitting slot, allowing him to create explosiveness in one compact spot. The knob path creates extended barrel time in the zone and is so clean+quick all the eyes see is a flick of the wrist. His perfect hip pace and lower half direction allow his hands to work inside the baseball and allow him to effortlessly pepper both gaps. His twitchy actions impact the game just as well in other areas. Gaskill ran 6.68 for us in his most recent showcase, showing off a quick reaction time and a sudden burst of acceleration. This benefits him well on the basepaths, as he’s an aggressive base stealer and wreaks havoc on opposing pitchers. It also shows in the outfield, lending him tons of range and getting to balls others don’t. The NG Bulldog is an instinctive player in all facets of the game, and we’re excited to track his progress.–
