Silas Cunningham (’23, Atlanta, Ga.)- the 5-foot-10, 180-pound right-handed pitcher came on for the 643 DP 17U Cougars- Pralgo and delivered 4 and 1/3 innings of scoreless relief in the 2-0 opening round victory. The uncommitted Cunningham entered the game with a pair of runners on and two outs to protect a 1-0 lead against the Georgia Bombers 17U Marucci. He proceeded to pick a runner off and end the Bombers threat. Cunningham featured a three-pitch arsenal mixing his fastball, curveball and changeup to miss barrels and finish with eight strikeouts and no walks with two hits allowed. A dominant outing and gutsy performance that saw the right-hander punch out eight of the sixteen batters he faced while pitching around two errors from his defense. He pitched off his breaking ball and changeup to both righties and lefties and controlled the strike zone at a 65% strike rate.
