About Me

My name is Owen Anchors.  I am a sophomore, class of 2024, at Dunwoody High School.  I have always enjoyed playing sports, but my most passionate one has always been baseball. It has always been my dream to play collegiate baseball.  I am a hard worker on and off the field always trying to improve myself.  This fall (2021) I gave up playing football to focus on improving my skills on the field and in the weight room for baseball (bigger, stronger, faster) to help pursue my dream.   I feel like some of my stronger traits are: being a great teammate, strong competitor, hard worker, and my drive to constant and never ending improvement.

Player Evaluation

Owen Anchors is a 2024 OF/1B/LHP from Dunwoody High School(GA) and 643 DP Cougars 16u Mang. Owen is 6’3″ 180 lbs and still growing. He hits left handed and has a PR exit velo of 96. He ran a 6.73 sec 60 at the PBR Future Games July 27. 2022. He throws 85 from the OF. Owen hits in the 4-5 holes for 643. He gets a lot of clutch hits and is an extra base machine. On the mound, Owen sits 80-82 T 83 with a 70 mph curve. Owen is a great teammate who is usually the first one out of the dugout to greet a teammate. He’s always talking and encouraging his team. Owen has a 3.5 GPA. I don’t know if Owen will end up in the OF, 1B, or on the mound, but I am pretty confident he’s going to be a heck of a college baseball player. He’s definitely one to keep an eye on.

Player No. 19 is one of the most projectable players in the country, OF Owen Anchors (Dunwoody; Uncommitted) At 6 foot 3, 180 pounds with light tower power, this is what they’re supposed to look like. It’s going to be absolutely eye opening when he adds another 10 lbs to his lengthy medium frame. The leverage king sets up tall with elbows bent & bat resting on his shoulder, the most relaxed upper body we’ve seen. Anchors pre sets his weight with the knee angled inside his back foot so the first move with the first move is forward. As his hips direct the stride he triggers into launch position at the same pace, creating optimal separation. What happens after is a sweet swing with loud bat speed. Whether he squares it up or not, it always comes off the bat hot. This is a player who projects plus raw power and is regularly showing special abilities as a hitter. Patient in his approach but looking to do damage with any pitch in the zone. He projects as two different players – the 5 tool CF that stays lean, or the 4 tool corner OF with some of the best raw power in the country. Regardless of which type he ends up, fans will stop everything they’re doing to come watch Owen Anchors hit. When he goes to the outfield, they’ll see an avg or better defender with a strong arm.

Perfect Game High School Notebook: March 8, 2022

Owen Anchors is a 6-foot-3, 180-pound, lean and athletically proportionate outfielder from Dunwoody High School in his hometown. A sophomore this season for the Wildcats, Anchors hits in the middle of the lineup and proved why on Tuesday, as the left-handed ballplayer showcases an advanced approach at the plate and has the wherewithal and hand-eye coordination to damage the baseball each time he steps in the box.

At the plate, Anchors has nice rhythm and timing in the box, and hits with evident barrel control that allows him to match plane and make hard-gapped contact regardless of location in the strike zone. On Tuesday, Anchors capitalized at the plate and recorded multiple hits including a long RBI triple down the line to the pull side. Once on the move, Anchors’ athleticism really shows as he has nice first-step quickness out of the box, and then underway speed and quickness to go first to third rather effortlessly. Anchors’ speed helps him in either corner of the outfield as well as he has demonstrated range to either side, and arm strength which projects him to right field down the road.

Only a sophomore, Anchors is already on our radar in the 2024 rankings both nationally, as he ranks inside the top-350 outfielders in the class, as well as inside the top-200 prospects overall in Georgia.
